Easy Find-a-Card Trick!

Here’s a quick card trick to astonish your pals!

You need:

  • A standard deck of playing cards

Here’s what to do:

  1. Ask someone in the audience to shuffle or mix up the cards.
  2. Pull up the second, third and fourth cards from the back of the deck to create a fan-shaped display. Keep the top card in place—your audience doesn’t know about this card. This is the key to the trick.
  3. Show the audience the cards. Remember, they think the three cards you are displaying are the top cards.
  4. Ask someone in the audience to select a card by pointing at individual fanned cards and saying “one,” “two” or “three.”
  5. If the audience selects “one,” count “one” and without showing it, take the top card (the card they don’t know about) and place it into the middle of the deck.
  6. If the audience selects “two,” count “one” and take the top card and place it into the middle of the deck. And then count “two” and without showing it, take the next card and place it into the middle of the deck.
  7. If the audience selects “three,” count “one” and take the top card and place it into the middle of the deck. Count “two” and then take the next card and place it into the middle of the deck. Count “three” and without showing it, take the next card and place it into the middle of the deck.
  8. This is where things get fun. The audience doesn’t know that the card they chose is actually still on the top of the deck.
  9. Now, say a magic word and go a magicians wave. You can now show the audience that—voila— their card has mysteriously risen to the top of the deck.
